Thermo Scientific HAAKE MiniLab 3 Micro Compounder is a compact conical twin-screw extruder designed for laboratory-scale compounding, formulation development, and material science research.
The unit supports small-batch testing with material amounts as low as approximately 5 grams or 7 cm³, making it suitable for expensive materials, additives, and early-stage formulation work. It is commonly used for pilot and scale-up projects involving compounded materials, reactive extrusion, and online rheology evaluation.
The HAAKE MiniLab 3 can operate as a stand-alone system or as a computer-controlled unit. It supports co-rotating or counter-rotating screws and includes an integrated backflow channel for controlled residence time. When used with counter-rotating screws, integrated pressure transducers in the backflow channel allow relative melt viscosity measurement.
Features may include co- and counter-rotating twin-screw operation, automatic bypass operation for circulation or extrusion, pneumatic feeding, inert gas flushing, local tablet control, split barrel exit for easier cleaning, and compact laboratory-friendly design.
Recommended for research and development applications, including new material development, testing expensive additives, formulation screening, and small-volume extrusion trials.
