Used SWECO Screeners, Separators, and Replacement Screens

SWECO patented the Vibro-Energy round separator in 1942. Eccentric weights on its drive shaft do the work. The top weight moves material toward the edge of the screen, and the bottom weight tilts the machine to add vertical motion, so oversize spirals off the deck while fines drop through.

Federal Equipment Company is an independent dealer in used SWECO equipment, and we stock more than 40 units here. The round separators range from 18 to 72 inches, in stainless and carbon steel, with 0.25 to 5 HP motors. We also carry Turbo-Screen air classifiers, Vibro-Energy mills, and bag dump stations.

Our parts division, PharmParts, sells replacement screens for SWECO separators from 18 to 60 inches. Most units are held at our Cleveland, OH facility and available for inspection.

Equipment We Carry

Round separators make up most of what comes through under the SWECO name. Turbo-Screen classifiers and Vibro-Energy mills follow, along with the bases, decks, and screens that keep existing separators running.

Vibro-Energy round separators Most of the SWECO separators we handle are 30, 48, or 60 inches in diameter, with 18- and 24-inch units for smaller lines. Single-deck machines are the norm, and two- and three-deck stacks make more than one cut in a single pass. Nearly all are stainless steel, and some carry covers, ultrasonic deblinding, or self-cleaning screens. Separator bases and individual decks also come through on their own, which suits a plant rebuilding a stack it already runs. See all used screens for other brands and rectangular designs.

Turbo-Screen air classifiers The Turbo-Screen is an air-assisted screener for fine, dry powders. A fan carries product to the screen in a high-velocity airflow, and a rotating air wand blows against the back of the screen to keep it from blinding. SWECO rates it for screens from 60 to 600 mesh, which covers particles from about 25 to 300 microns. Ours are 18- and 30-inch models, some with the cyclone collector that recovers the screened product. See all used classifiers for other brands and designs.

Vibro-Energy grinding mills SWECO's grinding mills use vibratory motion to drive a packed bed of cylindrical media for fine grinding. The high-amplitude DM models grind wet or dry, and the low-amplitude M models are built for wet grinding. The mills we have handled range from a 2.6-gallon GM18 to a 182-gallon M80S, including jacketed stainless steel M60 units. They list under ball and pebble mills and media mills.

Bag dump stations A SWECO bag dump station pairs a dump hopper with a screener, so material is screened as each bag is emptied. Units on record include a 24-inch flow-through separator under the hopper and stations built on 40-inch screener bases.

Models & Series

The number in a SWECO model code is the screen diameter in inches. An LS18 is an 18-inch separator, an MX48 is a 48-inch one, and a ZS40 is a 40-inch base. The LS, ZS, MX, XS, and US series are the ones we see most, and the full model code on the nameplate carries the rest of the build, so read it when you are matching a replacement.

On the classifier side, the Turbo-Screen comes through as the TS-18 and the TS-30. SWECO's mills appear as DM models, such as the DM-3L and DM-4L, and as M and GM models, such as the M60, the GM18, and the GM45L.

Applications & Industries

Parts & Change Parts

Screen cloth wears and blinds long before the separator does, so replacement screens are a routine purchase for anyone running a SWECO. We keep screens on hand from 3-mesh to 200-mesh, including self-cleaning screens and screens carrying SWECO part numbers.

Our parts division, PharmParts, carries the larger selection. That includes screens for 18- to 60-inch separators, double-mesh and self-cleaning screens, ball tray assemblies, deck clamps, and middle rings. Match a screen by diameter, mesh, and whether the deck uses a center tie-down, and use the part number on the frame when there is one.

Why Buy Used

A round separator has few wear parts. The motion generator and its motor do the work, while screens, gaskets, and clamps are the pieces that get replaced. That is why a used separator with sound decks has years of service left.

A used separator in the right diameter can ship in weeks, and its decks and screens can be changed to match the cut you need. Every unit is inspected when it arrives at our Cleveland, OH facility, and it is available for customer inspection before purchase. Refurbishment and testing can be arranged upon request, and process validation for your own material and facility remains with the buyer.
